01-ParentingMindfully

.

.
I love picking Zac up from childcare at the end of a day. The delicious anticipation as I walk from the car and through the centre, seeing his face light up when he notices me, dissolving into his welcoming hug -- this is a joyful experience where my mind is completely engaged in the present moment.
.
The next day at home with him I find myself restless and irritable or lethargic from the slowness of time. In such a state I can be blind to how exquisite he looks, his hilarious remarks, and the sheer miracle that his life is. He is a blessing, an extraordinary gift. By watching him more closely as often as possible and studying who he has become in each new moment, I afford myself a richer and more satisfying experience of motherhood.
